Scruffians Rattery is a small rattery in West Auckland. Our main goal is to breed rats with good health and temperament for pet homes. Our secondary goal is to preserve and improve two uncommon coat types/markings in New Zealand, the first is the NZ Angora/Fluffy line from House of Kahn Rattery, and the second is the head spot/blazed marking.
We only breed males once they are over 18 months old to be sure that they are free of hormonal aggression and common genetic problems. Our girls are bred when they are between 6 and 12 months.
Our rats are our pets first and foremost, and are treated as members of the family. They get plenty of snuggles and play time outside of their cages and eat a varied and healthy diet.
