Scruffians Rattery is a small rattery in central Auckland. Our main goal is to breed rats with good health and temperament for pet homes. Our secondary goal is to preserve and improve two uncommon coat types/markings in New Zealand, the first is the long coat/fuzzy line from House of Kahn Rattery, and the second is the head spot/blazed marking.
We only breed males once they are over 20 months old to be sure that they are free of hormonal aggression and common genetic problems. Our girls are bred when they are between 6 and 9 months.
Our rats are our pets first and foremost, and are treated as members of the family. They live in our house, get plenty of snuggles and play time outside of their cages and eat a varied and healthy diet.
